How long does it take to set up a company in Algeria?

Expect 10 to 15 days to get the trade register extract for a SARL or an EURL, and 4 to 5 weeks for the complete file with NIF, NIS and CASNOS. These figures come from our practice and bind no public body. Other time limits are set by law: the name certificate is valid for 6 months, the declaration of existence is due within 30 days, and beneficial owners are declared within one month.

Timing, step by step

Two kinds of time limits apply. Legal deadlines are set by a text: they bind you, and missing them can lead to penalties. Processing times depend on each body and on the quality of your file: here we give our estimates, based on files handled in Algiers.

A typical 5-week timeline

Indicative example for a domiciled EURL with a complete file from the start. Your real timeline depends on the bodies involved, appointments and your activity.

  1. 1

    Week 1: office and name

Sign the domiciliation contract (3 days at most at Neuron), apply for the company name at the CNRC, book the notary.

  2. 2

Weeks 1 and 2: articles and capital

Sign the articles, deposit at least one fifth of cash contributions with the notary, publish the incorporation notice in the BOAL.

  3. 3

Weeks 2 and 3: trade register

File with the CNRC. The trade register extract usually arrives 10 to 15 days after the file is started.

  4. 4

First week after the extract: NIF and G n°8

Request the NIF online, then file the declaration of existence (G n°8) at the tax office. You leave with the certificate of existence, which the ONS and CASNOS offices in Algiers ask for. Declare the beneficial owners too, if the form was not handed in with the registration file.

  5. 5

Before day 10 after the extract: CASNOS

Enrol the self-employed manager, on Damancom or at the office, with the certificate of existence. The 10 days run from the date of the trade register extract: do not wait for the NIS.

  6. 6

    Next: the NIS

Get the NIS identification notice from the ONS, with the certificate of existence and the documents from the tax office. No legal deadline is published, but the bank asks for it.

  7. 7

    Then: bank and business

Open the company account, recover the capital from the notary, issue your first invoices.

Time limits set by law

These deadlines depend neither on us nor on the counters. Note them as soon as the company is formed.

What slows things down

  • A regulated activity: the licence or approval is requested before registration, and its timing depends on the administration concerned.
  • A rejected name: you need a new name application.
  • A member abroad or unavailable: you need a notarised power of attorney or a joint appointment with the notary.
  • A missing or incorrect document: the file comes back and the clock restarts.
  • A registered address without valid proof.
  • Busy periods and public holidays, which slow the counters down.

What speeds things up

  • Gather every document before the first step.
  • Choose domiciliation: at Neuron, the notarised contract is ready within 3 days at most, with no premises to find.
  • Check the spelling of names and dates on every document.
  • File each step as soon as the previous document arrives.
  • Prepare the forms in advance, or have us fill in the setup forms (5,000 DA for a company, 2,000 DA for a sole trader).

Sole trader and auto-entrepreneur

With no articles, no capital and no BOAL notice, a sole trader's route is shorter: trade register registration, then the same tax and social security steps, with the same 30-day deadline for the declaration of existence. An auto-entrepreneur registers with ANAE. In both cases, processing times depend on each body.

Do it yourself or get help

Processing times do not depend on us, but a complete file filed in the right order avoids back-and-forth. You can follow this guide yourself, have us fill in the setup forms (5,000 DA for a company, 2,000 DA for a sole trader), or hand us the full follow-up, for 50,000 DA (sole trader) or 60,000 DA (company), 10,000 DA less with domiciliation at Neuron, official fees excluded.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to get the trade register extract?

10 to 15 days after the file is started, based on our files in Algiers. The actual timing depends on the CNRC, the notary and how complete your file is.

Can I set up a SARL in one week?

Rarely. Several bodies act one after another (CNRC, notary, tax office, CASNOS, ONS), each with its own timing. Our estimate for the complete file is 4 to 5 weeks.

How long is the name certificate valid?

Six months. Without registration or extension within that period, the name can be given to another applicant.

What is the deadline to file the G n°8?

The declaration of existence (G n°8) is filed with the tax office within 30 days of starting the activity.

In what order should I file the G n°8 and enrol with CASNOS?

The G n°8 first, in the first week after the trade register extract, then the manager's CASNOS enrolment before day 10. CASNOS offices in Algiers ask for the certificate of existence that the tax office issues after the G n°8.

How long does a domiciliation contract take?

At Neuron, 3 days at most. You only need an ID and a birth certificate extract. The contract is notarised, for 1 year or 2 years.

When must beneficial owners be declared?

Within one month of the company's formation, with the CNRC. The declaration covers the people who control the company or hold at least 20% of the capital or voting rights.

When must the rest of the capital be paid up?

For a SARL or an EURL, within five years of registration at most, on the manager's decision. At least one fifth of cash contributions is paid in at formation.
